2. Configure GIS

Configuring your GIS is very specific to your organization and depends greatly on how your locators will be able to access GIS data in the field. Answering the following questions will help you determine the best configuration for your organization:

  1. Is your GIS data publicly available, or available to your locators once the VPN into your network? If so, then you don't need to add a GIS integration and you can proceed to adding layers.
  2. Is your GIS data hosted on ArcGIS Online and is secured? If so, then you will want to add an ArcGIS Online integration. See Connect to Your ArcGIS Online Account
  3. Is your GIS data hosted on ArcGIS Enterprise and is secured? If so, then you want to add an ArcGIS Enterprise Connection. See Connect Your ArcGIS Enterprise Account to UtiliSync

Next, you will want to create a layer and add the layer to a map. See Create, View, and Edit a Map. Once that is done, your locators will be able to view their GIS utility information in the UtiliSync811 app.

3. Obtain Test Tickets

Each state's one-call center has its own preferred method for delivering test tickets. Some one-call centers are willing to reprocess previously sent tickets at no additional charge. Others require you complete forms and set up a duplicate receiver, which will send a duplicate of new tickets to UtiliSync, in addition to the method you currently use to receive tickets.
