Populate the Calculation Field in a Form

When using the Form Builder in the UtiliSync Admin app, once you have added a field to a form, you can customize the settings for that field in the panel on the right side of the screen. In this article, you will learn how to populate the Calculation field. This field is useful for automatically performing calculations from data entered by your users.

Instructions

  1. Before you can populate a Calculation field, you must create other fields in your form where your users can enter the data that will be needed for the calculation. This can be as simple as creating a Number field for each variable. For example: create one number field for Variable 1, and another for Variable 2, etc. See the image below for a simple set of fields prepared for a calculation.

  1. To create the calculation, click on the pencil icon in the field settings panel.

  1. Click on the Form Placeholders button to open the menu containing the variables you can use in your calculation.

  1. To use a variable simply click on it in the menu and it will be copied to your clipboard.
  2. Using the variables and mathematic symbols, create your calculation. For example:

  1. The mathematic symbols available are as follows:

  1. Click on the Save Calculation button at the bottom of the box when you are finished.
  2. When you have populated your calculation field, it will appear on the right with the Labels of your other form fields in place of their params #.

  1. Each setting available will be explained in a separate article.
  2. Remember to click on the Update Item button when you have finished customizing the settings.

Success! You can now populate the Calculation field in a form.
