Populate the Visible Field in a Form

When using the Form Builder in the UtiliSync Admin app, once you have added a field to a form, you can customize the settings for that field in the panel on the right side of the screen. In this article, you will learn how to populate the Visible field.

Instructions

  1. You can customize the Visibility of a field in your form by clicking on the pencil icon after VISIBLE at the end of the settings panel. This will create a new menu with several options. In most form fields, the options are the same. There is a built-in warning screen to make sure you want to configure Advanced Settings.

  1. If you choose to continue, you can use a dropdown menu with three options: Always, Never, and Conditional. The first option, Always, is the default setting for every field. This means that every field you add to this form will be visible to your users unless you change this setting.
  2. If you select the second option, Never, then this field will not be visible to any users filling out this form.
  3. The Conditional option for this setting can be customized so that the form field you are formatting will only be visible if a different field that you have already formatted is populated in the way that you specify. For example: You can make a Paragraph field description visible if a repair is needed as noted in a Single Select field earlier in the form. This customization would then not show the description field to any user that marked that no repairs are needed. See the image below for how to configure that.

  1. The Dependant column provides a dropdown list of places that you can draw data from to set up this conditional visibility. You can choose a UtiliSync Field, a GIS Field, or a Form Field.
  2. The dropdown menu in the Field column lists the available fields that you can reference for this function.
  3. The Comparison field gives you the choice between various comparisons.
  4. In the Value field, you enter the value from the Dependant field that will make this field visible.
  5. When you have added all of the Visibility conditions that you want, make sure to click on the SAVE SETTINGS button.
  6. The remaining settings are available for many types of form fields and will be described in separate articles.
  7. When you are finished customizing this field, always remember to click on the Update Item button at the bottom of the field settings panel or your work will not be saved to your form.

Success! You can now populate the Visible field in a form.
