Populate the Required Field in a Form

When using the Form Builder in the UtiliSync Admin app, once you have added a field to a form, you can customize the settings for that field in the panel on the right side of the screen. In this article, you will learn how to populate the Required field.

Instructions

  1. You can customize the Required field in your form using the menu that appears when you click on the dropdown arrow in the Required field.

  1. This will create a new menu with three options: Always, Never, and Conditional. By clicking on the dropdown arrow on the right of this field, you can select Always to make this field required of all of your form users.
  2. The second option, Never, is the default setting for this field. This means that the field is optional unless you change this setting.
  3. The Conditional option for this setting can be customized so that the form field you are formatting will only be required if a different field that you have already formatted is populated in the way that you specify. For example: You can make a Paragraph field description required if a repair is needed as noted in a Single Select field earlier in the form. This customization would then not require the description from any user that marked that no repairs are needed. See the image below for how to configure that.

  1. The dropdown menu in the Dependant field lists the other fields in your form. This allows you to choose which field this field will be connected to.
  2. The Comparison field gives you the choice between Not Equal or Equal. Select Not Equal if you want the field to be required if any but the indicated choice is selected by the user in the Dependant form field. Select Equal if you want the field to be required only if the indicated choice is selected by the user in the Dependant form field.
  3. In the Value field, you enter the value from the Dependant field that will make this field required.
  4. The remaining settings are available for many types of form fields and will be described in separate articles.
  5. When you are finished customizing this field, always remember to click on the Update Item button at the bottom of the box or your work will not be saved to your form.

Success! You can now populate the Required field in a form.
